The Philodendron Wrist Wrap Bracelet - Hand Cut Brass - Made to Order |
Imagine this gorgeous brass bracelet curled around your wrist! It can be worn a couple different ways, as seen in the photos, depending on the way you put it on. Another "look" not shown in the photos is to wear the leaf far down on the wrist so that the leaf sits on the back of your hand. Very flattering and graceful. It is quite comfortable, lightweight, and pliable enough for you to bend it slightly if you want to, also. But not too much or too often, or it will break!
A handcut yellow brass leaf is soldered securely to a length of raw yellow brass, which is formed, hammered, and curled at the end. The leaf is then soaked in a warm natural "pickle" to remove firescale and oxidization caused by the flame. The leaf and "vine" are then filed & sanded smooth & bright, and the leaf is oxidized black. The leaf is then sanded again to add contrast, highlighting the raised parts and leaving the recesses dark. Please note: yellow brass can resemble gold at times. If you wish less of a gold tone, this can be made using red brass, which will produce a more coppery/bronze tone. Another option at this price ise copper. Bracelet measures 8.5" and is adjustable for smaller wrists by gentle bending.
**Pictured is the original cuff (on my own wrist), made with a vintage commerically made brass leaf. This has been sold, but I can duplicate the leaf quite well, however, it *will* look different due to the fact that my leaves are handcut from NEW stock. I have made a few of these Philodendron leaves now, and though I adored the original vintage brass leaf, I am actually more fond of my own because they look more organic. Color and tone of my leaves may not be as "dramatic" as that shown in the picture, but I do my best to make it as beautiful as I possibly can. Time and a bit of love (a rub now and then with a polishing cloth) will only enhance it's features and color.
*PLEASE NOTE that I only use lead free & cadmium free silver solder in my soldered pieces, and a natural non-toxic "pickle" to clean the metal after using the torch. All of my raw metals (wire, sheet, etc.) are recycled/reclaimed metal. When oxidizing, I also use liver of sulfur. No harsh chemicals.*
