Santas of the World Hand Stitched Ornaments Set of 8 |
Crafter: Bear's Den Farm Crafts
These Old World Santas were a true labor of love and took nearly a year to complete. Each is hand stitched, hand assembled and hand trimmed in gold and off-white satin braid (also the hanger). Detailed descriptions are in order of appearance in photo.
England 1905 - shades of Victorian rose make up this Santa's outfit. He wears a hat to match his coat, black boots and belt. He carries a rocking horse and a bag of goodies.
Germany 1908 - Greens make this Santa blend in in the Black Forest. His gloves are pink and his boots are brown. He wears a wreath of pine and berries over one shoulder and carries a bag with a doll and a stuffed elephant (among other things).
Poland 1909 - This Santa looks more like a priest or saint in his white, red and brown conical hat, blue tunic and red robe. He has a long beard and carries a staff.
Yugoslavia 1910 - This Santa is decked in blue and carries a Christmas tree in one hand and a basket of fruit in the other. At his feet is a Jack in the Box ready to give a Christmas surprise.
Russia 1903 - This Santa is decked in off-white robes, wears brown shoes and green gloves. His red tunic peaks out from under his coat and he carries a teddy bear and a toy boat to some happy child.
Czechoslovakia 1897 - This Santa is dressed in a long red robe and carries a bag overflowing with toys, including a ball, drum, doll and sailboat.
Hungary 1884 - This is the oldest of the Santas in this collection, and he is dressed in bright orange. Smoking his pipe, he carries a toy soldier, a sailboat and other goodies to a deserving child on Christmas Eve.
USA - Last but not least, this most familiar of Santas is our own. Dressed in bright red with shiny black boots, he is tooting a horn and toting a decorated Christmas tree and other goodies in his bag.
Each of these Santas was stitched on 18 ct Aida fabric. They are rich in detail with backstitching throughout. The dolls, toy soldiers, stuffed animals and most Santas have French knots for eyes. The dolls have ribbons in their hair or on their dresses.
